About This Project

I'm Greg — a Technology Education teacher in Central Jersey. I split my time between a woodworking shop and a computer science classroom, and I started building A Perfect Draft the same way I tell my students to approach any project: pick something you actually care about, then figure it out.

The game is built on real player data, carefully tuned scoring, and feedback from people who have genuinely played it. I used AI throughout the build — ChatGPT handled most of the logic and image generation, while Claude led the design and UI/UX work.

Baseball, football, and basketball are live, with more sports on the way. No plans to monetize for now — though I did mention I'm a teacher, so… ya never know. If you have a thought, a complaint, or just want to share your result, I actually read every message.

The Games

Each A Perfect Draft game drops you into a live draft where every pick comes from a random real team-season. No free agency, no trades — just the luck of the roll and the skill of the build. The goal is always the same: assemble the best roster you can, then see if you can go undefeated.

The Short Version

This game is built to be played without an account. We don't collect your email or payment information. Your in-progress draft is saved locally to your own browser. If you choose to submit a score to the global leaderboard, we store your chosen leaderboard name, game result, drafted roster where supported, submission timestamp, and an approximate region/country used for the public Location column.

This policy covers the current state of the site and should be reviewed by a qualified professional before analytics, advertising, or payment features are added.

What We Store

In your browser (local storage): Your in-progress draft — selected mode, current rolled team, drafted players, filled lineup slots, and game state. This never leaves your device and can be cleared by clearing site data in your browser settings.

Daily Challenge best-score tracking (local storage): When you complete a Daily Challenge, your best result for that day is saved locally using a date-keyed entry. This is used to ensure only your personal best for that date is submitted to the leaderboard. This data never leaves your device automatically.

On our server (global leaderboard, opt-in only): If you choose to submit your score after a game, we store your chosen leaderboard name, win-loss record, team score, game mode, drafted roster where supported, submission timestamp, and approximate region/country in a database hosted by Hostinger. The approximate location is derived from the connection IP at submission time; the raw IP address is not stored in the leaderboard entry. Submission is always optional — you can skip the prompt and nothing is saved server-side.

What We Don't Collect

  • No account or registration required.
  • No email address collected.
  • No payment data collected by the game.
  • No tracking or advertising cookies intentionally set.
  • No full name — only first name and last initial if you voluntarily submit a score.

The Global Leaderboard

After finishing a game you'll be offered the option to add your name to the global leaderboard. This prompt is entirely optional — clicking Skip sends nothing to the server. If you submit, your chosen name, score, record, and approximate region/country are stored in our database and may be visible to other players. There is currently no self-service way to delete a submitted entry; contact us if you'd like yours removed.

The Share Button

If you use Share Result, your browser's native share sheet opens or your result is copied to the clipboard. The game does not send that result to a server. Anything you post or share through another app is covered by that app's own privacy policy.

Third-Party Services

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Current-season player data may be requested from public sports statistics APIs when local historical data isn't available. Historical player and team data is derived from public sports datasets. When you voluntarily submit a leaderboard score, the server may send the connection IP to an IP geolocation service to resolve the approximate region and country displayed on the leaderboard. These services may receive basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and requested URLs when a connection is made.

Server Logs

Our hosting provider (Hostinger) may automatically log standard technical information — IP address, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps. These logs are used for security, debugging, and reliability.

Cookies

The game does not set its own tracking cookies. Third-party services may use cookies according to their own policies.

Children

This is a general-audience game not designed to collect information from children. If a parent or guardian has concerns, contact us and we'll address it promptly.

Future Changes

If analytics, advertising, email signup, or additional personal data collection are added, this policy will be updated before those features launch.
